Declan has a long-standing interest in reconstructive surgery and set up the plastic surgery laser service at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, treating old and new burn scars
Mr Collins qualified as a doctor from University College London in 1998. He became a Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh member in 2003. Following a long-standing interest in reconstructive surgery and wound healing, Declan completed a PhD in burns care and wound healing.
Declan joined the GMC specialist register for Plastic Surgery in 2015 and holds the FRCS (Plast). His plastic surgery training was in London, and his specialist fellowship in Burn Surgery was at St Andrews’ Centre for Burns and Plastic Surgery. Declan has also completed a fellowship in aesthetic surgery at the King Edward VII Hospital, London. He was appointed as a consultant plastic surgeon at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in 2015.
Declan’s breadth of surgical and non-surgical expertise allows him to offer a wide range of reconstructive techniques. His main surgical interests are plastic reconstruction and burn surgery in children and adults. He works with colorectal surgeons to perform perineal and vaginal reconstruction after bowel cancer surgery. He also works with dermatologists offering surgical solutions to hidradenitis suppurativa.
He is the Trusts’ Clinical Lead for Burns Research and is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College, London. Declan leads an active research programme involving national and international studies and annually supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students.
He is engaged in the training of plastic surgeons and medical students and is committed to the delivery of high-quality of care throughout his NHS and private practices.
Declan operates privately at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and consults in Chelsea and at 152 Harley Street.
