Mr Ioannis Goutos is an expert on scar management and body contouring specialising in all aspects of reconstructive and aesthetic care.

He undertook his surgical training in the London and Oxford regions achieving a number of awards and accolades and completed fellowship programmes in the Indian subcontinent, South America, and the Orient. His clinical career commenced at the Royal London Hospital, where he led the development of their burn service and formed a key role in the expansion of the existing tertiary scar management service. Mr Goutos is a member of the British Medical Association (BMA), British Burn Association (BBA), European Burn Association (EBA), British Medical Laser Association (BMLA) as well as the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAPRAS). His training and internationally recognised work have led to him being considered a leading thought expert in burn and scar management.

Mr Goutos has unparalleled expertise in the use of energy based devices including lasers for the management of aesthetic and functional skin conditions and is frequently invited to share his vast knowledge and skill as part of educational events targeted towards peer specialists. With his lifelong commitment to research and education, he extends his surgical role through the position of the Director of Plastic Surgery Academic programmes at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL).
